Diamond Jubilee Scholarships
In all, 1,015 scholarships have been granted to deserving graduate and undergraduate sisters to further their educational goals. These women exhibit academic excellence as well as dedication to serving the community and Alpha Omicron Pi.
A prior DJS recipient Hannah B. Jacobs states, "In addition to the monetary value of the scholarship, there was also the feeling of honor that accompanied it. It was an unbelievable feeling to receive an award from an organization that has had such an amazing impact on my life. Once again AOII proved to me that the ways in which my life is touched by the fraternity, its members and its programs is never ending."
The AOII Foundation awards scholarships to undergraduate, graduate and returning alumnae members each year. Scholarships are awarded from the Diamond Jubilee Endowment as well as several named scholarship funds. Named scholarships are awarded based on specific criteria established when the scholarship is first set up and the amount awarded each year is based on the earnings of the endowment. Named Scholarships
There is no separate application form for a named scholarship. Applicants should complete and submit the appropriate general scholarship application. The Scholarship Committee will evaluate all applications for named award eligibility first, and then general Diamond Jubilee Scholarship eligibility.
The scholarship committee evaluates each application based on the following criteria, listed in no specific order:
- Academic Achievement (cumulative GPA)
- Fraternity service, leadership roles, level of involvement
- College/university and community involvement Financial need and evidence of self-help Quality of the applicant’s written statements
